Guidance Policies & Procedures

The counselors at Pickens Middle School help students learn to understand and deal with social, behavioral, and personal problems. We emphasize preventative and developmental counseling in order for our students to learn life skills needed to enhance personal, social, and academic growth.

We serve both parents and students through a variety of services such as:

  • Referrals to outside agencies to assist families in need
  • Student individual, small-, and large-group counseling
  • Crisis counseling
  • Career counseling
  • Transitioning skills from elementary to middle school as well as new students to our school
  • Student records

Did you know? Being late for school hurts a child's learning as well. A student who is 10 minutes late every day will miss 30 hours of instruction during the year. Your child's success in school depends on having a solid educational background- one that can only be gained through regular school attendance.
